Educational Review: Research and Innovation (ERRI)

These guidelines provide detailed instructions for preparing and submitting manuscripts to the Educational Review: Research and Innovation (ERRI). Authors are expected to ensure that their manuscripts fully comply with these requirements before submission.

All editorial communications—including manuscript submission, peer review, revision, editorial decisions, and publication—are conducted exclusively through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

1. Journal Scope and Article Types

Educational Review: Research and Innovation (ERRI) publishes original scholarly works that advance knowledge, theory, policy, and practice across all areas of education.

The journal welcomes high-quality manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following fields:

  • Curriculum and Instruction

  • Teaching and Learning

  • STEM Education

  • Language and Literacy Education

ERRI welcomes interdisciplinary research employing quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, design-based research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and conceptual or theoretical approaches.

Accepted Manuscript Types

Manuscripts outside the journal's aims and scope may be declined during the initial editorial screening.

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized in the following order:

  • Title

  • Author Information

  • Abstract

  • Keywords

  • Introduction

  • Literature Review (optional)

  • Method

  • Results

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

  • Acknowledgments (if applicable)

  • Author Contribution Statement

  • AI Disclosure Statement

  • Competing Interests Statement

  • References

  • Appendices (if applicable)

Title

The manuscript title should:

  • contain no more than 15 words;

  • clearly reflect the content of the manuscript;

  • be concise, informative, and specific;

  • avoid abbreviations whenever possible.

Author Information

Authors must provide:

  • Full author name(s);

  • Institutional affiliation (Department, Institution, City, Country);

  • ORCID ID (recommended);

  • Active email address (preferably institutional);

  • Corresponding author designation.

A manuscript may normally include up to six authors. Manuscripts with additional authors should provide an appropriate justification.

Abstract

The abstract should:

  • consist of 150–250 words;

  • be written in a single paragraph;

  • summarize the background, objectives, methods, principal findings, and implications;

  • avoid citations and undefined abbreviations.

Keywords

Provide 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons.

Keywords should accurately represent the main topics of the manuscript.

3. Formatting Requirements

General Formatting

  • Language: English

  • British or American English may be used consistently

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

  • Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words (excluding references and appendices)

  • Font: Garamond 12 pt

  • Line spacing: Single

  • Layout: One-column

  • Paper size: B5 JIS (18.2 × 25.7 cm)

Margins

  • Left: 2.5 cm

  • Right: 2 cm

  • Top: 2 cm

  • Bottom: 2 cm

Paragraphs

  • First-line indentation: 1.27 cm

  • Justified alignment

  • No additional spacing before or after paragraphs

Headings

Authors should apply heading levels consistently and avoid excessive subdivision.

4. Tables and Figures

Tables

Authors should:

  • number tables consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.);

  • place table titles above each table;

  • avoid vertical borders whenever possible;

  • ensure readability;

  • cite every table within the manuscript text.

Figures

Authors should:

  • number figures consecutively;

  • place captions below each figure;

  • provide high-resolution graphics;

  • avoid decorative illustrations;

  • cite every figure in the manuscript text.

Duplicate presentation of identical information in both tables and figures should be avoided.

5. Citation and References

ERRI adopts the APA 7th Edition referencing style.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use Mendeley Reference Manager, Zotero, or other recognized reference management software.

Reference Requirements

  • Minimum 25 references

  • At least 80% from peer-reviewed journal articles

  • At least 40% published within the last five years

  • All references cited in-text

  • All in-text citations listed in the References section

Authors are encouraged to prioritize internationally indexed scholarly publications.

6. Research Ethics

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • the manuscript is original;

  • the manuscript has not been published elsewhere;

  • the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal;

  • all sources are appropriately acknowledged;

  • ethical standards have been fully observed.

Human Participants

Research involving human participants should report:

  • informed consent;

  • confidentiality protection;

  • ethical approval number (where applicable).

Similarity Screening

All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using similarity detection software.

Manuscripts demonstrating unacceptable similarity or evidence of plagiarism will be rejected.

7. AI Use and Disclosure Policy

ERRI permits responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools solely for:

  • language improvement;

  • grammar checking;

  • editorial assistance;

  • organization of content.

AI tools must never replace authors' intellectual contribution.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, interpretation, and integrity of the manuscript.

Authors using AI-assisted tools must include an AI Disclosure Statement before the References section.

8. Author Contribution Statement

Authors must include an Author Contribution Statement before the References section.

Example:

AB conceived the study. CD collected and analyzed the data. EF prepared the initial manuscript. All authors reviewed, revised, and approved the final version.

9. Competing Interests Statement

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal competing interests.

If none exist, state:

The authors declare no competing interests.

10. Submission Process

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Authors are required to:

  • upload the manuscript;

  • complete all metadata accurately;

  • upload supplementary files where applicable;

  • confirm compliance with ethical policies;

  • provide all required declarations.

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact throughout the editorial process.

11. Peer Review Process

Every submission undergoes:

  • Initial Editorial Screening;

  • Similarity Checking;

  • Double-Blind Peer Review;

  • Editorial Evaluation;

  • Final Decision by the Editor-in-Chief.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

Editorial decisions are based upon:

  • relevance to journal scope;

  • originality;

  • methodological rigor;

  • significance of findings;

  • contribution to educational research;

  • quality of academic writing.

12. Publication and Copyright

Educational Review: Research and Innovation (ERRI) is a fully Open Access Journal.

Published articles are distributed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Authors retain copyright while granting ERRI the right to publish, archive, and disseminate their work.

13. Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submission, authors should verify that:

Originality

☐ Manuscript is not submitted elsewhere.

☐ Similarity is within acceptable limits.

Formatting

☐ Official ERRI template is used.

☐ Formatting complies with journal requirements.

☐ Word count is appropriate.

Structure

☐ All mandatory sections are included.

☐ Abstract contains 150–250 words.

☐ Keywords are provided.

References

☐ APA 7th Edition is consistently applied.

☐ Minimum reference requirements are fulfilled.

☐ All citations appear in the References section.

Tables and Figures

☐ All tables and figures are numbered.

☐ All visuals are cited in the manuscript.

Ethical Compliance

☐ Ethical approval included where applicable.

☐ AI Disclosure Statement included.

☐ Competing Interests Statement included.

Authorship

☐ All authors approved the final manuscript.

☐ Corresponding author is identified.
