Publication Ethics

Educational Review: Research and Innovation (ERRI)

Educational Review: Research and Innovation (ERRI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, transparency, and responsible research dissemination. The journal follows the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (DOAJ), and internationally recognized standards for peer-reviewed academic publishing.

All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher—are expected to uphold these ethical principles throughout manuscript submission, peer review, editorial decision-making, publication, and post-publication activities.

1. Ethical Principles

ERRI is founded upon the following core ethical principles:

  • Academic honesty and integrity.
  • Editorial independence and impartiality.
  • Transparency in editorial decision-making.
  • Fairness and non-discrimination.
  • Confidentiality throughout the review process.
  • Accountability for published scholarly work.
  • Respect for intellectual property and copyright.
  • Compliance with research ethics involving human participants.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to ERRI are expected to:

  • Submit only original and unpublished work.
  • Ensure the manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  • Accurately present research methods, data, and findings.
  • Acknowledge all sources through appropriate citation.
  • Obtain ethical approval where required.
  • Disclose all funding sources and potential conflicts of interest.
  • Provide an Author Contribution Statement.
  • Provide an AI Disclosure Statement where applicable.
  • Cooperate fully during peer review and revision.
  • Notify the Editorial Office promptly if significant errors are discovered after submission or publication.

Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted work.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring an objective, transparent, and ethical editorial process.

Editorial Responsibility Description
Editorial Independence Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit and relevance to the journal's scope.
Confidentiality Editors maintain confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
Fair Evaluation Editors evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on nationality, gender, ethnicity, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
Conflict of Interest Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
Publication Ethics Editors investigate allegations of misconduct and implement appropriate corrective actions when necessary.

4. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Peer reviewers contribute significantly to maintaining the scholarly quality of ERRI.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations.
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.
  • Review manuscripts only within their area of expertise.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other ethical concerns.
  • Avoid using unpublished information for personal advantage.

5. Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher supports the Editorial Board in maintaining editorial independence, publication quality, long-term preservation, and ethical publishing practices.

The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions and ensures that all published content complies with applicable publication ethics and legal requirements.

6. Research Integrity

Authors must ensure that their research is conducted responsibly and reported honestly.

Research involving human participants should include:

  • Ethics committee approval where applicable.
  • Informed consent from participants.
  • Protection of participant privacy and confidentiality.
  • Compliance with institutional and national ethical regulations.

7. Plagiarism and Similarity

All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening before peer review.

The journal has zero tolerance for:

  • Plagiarism.
  • Self-plagiarism.
  • Duplicate publication.
  • Data fabrication.
  • Data falsification.
  • Image manipulation intended to mislead readers.

Manuscripts found to violate these principles may be rejected immediately or retracted after publication.

8. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is permitted only for language editing, grammar improvement, or manuscript organization.

AI tools may not be listed as authors and cannot assume responsibility for the scholarly content of a manuscript.

Authors must disclose any use of AI-assisted tools through an AI Disclosure Statement included in the manuscript.

9. Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the publication process.

Where conflicts exist, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure impartial editorial handling.

10. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

ERRI is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

The journal may publish:

  • Corrections (Errata or Corrigenda).
  • Retractions.
  • Expressions of Concern.

Such actions are taken when substantial errors, research misconduct, ethical violations, or unreliable findings are identified.

11. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit formal appeals regarding editorial decisions or publication ethics concerns.

All appeals are evaluated objectively by the Editor-in-Chief or an independent editorial representative not directly involved in the original decision.

The decision reached after the appeal process shall be considered final.

12. Confidentiality

Information concerning submitted manuscripts is treated as confidential.

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff shall not disclose manuscript information except where required by publication ethics investigations or legal obligations.

13. Copyright and Open Access

ERRI is an open-access journal that provides immediate and unrestricted access to all published articles.

Authors retain copyright while granting the journal the right to publish, archive, and disseminate the work under the journal's selected Creative Commons license.

14. Ethical Oversight

The Editorial Board reserves the right to investigate any allegation of publication misconduct before or after publication.

Investigations are conducted fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with COPE recommendations. Appropriate actions may include manuscript rejection, publication correction, retraction, notification to authors' institutions, or other measures deemed necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
